The Berklee Global Jazz Institute (BGJI) is proud to present this series of concerts featuring some of world’s most talented emerging artists. Each of these concerts will be dedicated to the music of the Artist in Residence they are working with at that time. The program on Novemeber 20 will be feature Joe Lovano and his music.

The Berklee Global Jazz Institute (BGJI) is a performance program designed to foster creativity and musicianship through various musical disciplines, with pianist and composer Danilo Pérez as its artistic director. The BGJI provides a comprehensive contemporary music environment where students are given opportunities to explore their creativity to the highest level possible, advance the power of music as a tool for the betterment of society, and connect musical creative thinking with the natural environment.

The Grammy Award–winning saxophonist and composer Joe Lovano is among the most influential and dynamic musicians of our time. Born in Clevland, Ohio in 1952, Lovano attended Berklee in the 1970s and has led his own groups since then. Lovano currently leads the internationally acclaimed group Us Five with bassist Esperanza Spalding is also a part of the Saxophone Summit with Dave Liebman and Ravi Coltrane and has recorded alongside Hank Jones and McCoy Tyner, among others. Currently, Lovano holds the Gary Burton Chair in Jazz Performance at Berklee and visits with the Berklee Global Jazz Institute often.

Along with Lovano, the concert will feature Israeli saxophonist Lihi Maro Huruvi, Puerto Rican saxophonist Edmar Colon, guitarist Joe Manzoli, John Egizi playing trombone, bassists Spencer Stewart and Hoo Kim as well as Anthony Fung on drums. All are students of the BGJI.

The BGJI and Joe Lovano are thrilled to present their final Masters Series concert at the Regattabar on November 20. The Regattabar functions as a full bar and restaurant.
