Pianist John Kordalewski leads the acclaimed Makanda Project, a large ensemble comprised of top players from the Boston and NYC jazz scenes. I'm pleased to welcome him to the Mandorla Music Series for a rare trio appearance. John describes bassist Carlos Pino as one of the most versatile bass players to have emerged from Colombia in recent years. Kesivan Naidoo is recognized as one of South Africa's top jazz drummers, and presently makes his home in New York. John says the three will play compositions by such pianist-composers as Cedar Walton, Horace Silver and Mulgrew Miller, and music from and inspired by the jazz traditions of Pino's Colombia and Naidoo's South Africa.
