About
Enchanted by jazz as a teenager, tenor saxophonist and composer Daniel Rotem graduated with honors from Israel’s Thelma Yellin High School Jazz Program in 2008. During 2009 – 2010 Daniel studied at the Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music in Tel Aviv, where he was awarded first place in Rimon’s Outstanding Jazz Player Competition and had an opportunity to perform with saxophonist David Liebman. He represented Rimon at the 20th IASJ meeting in The Hague, following earlier performances at the IAJE Conference in Toronto and the SAJE in Cape Town.
Considering music a force connecting people and cultures Daniel made international exposure a priority early on and participated twice in the Siena Jazz Workshops in Italy. He had the opportunity to play and study with Lionel Loueke, George Garzone, Scott Colley, John Taylor, Michael Blake, Kenny Werner, Peter Bernstein, Eric Harland, Joel Frahm and Jeremy Pelt. Daniel is currently studying at the Berklee College of Music towards a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Performance on a full tuition scholarship. He has performed at different venues around Boston, including at a joint performance of India Arie and Idan Raichel, and with drummer Peter Erskine, and has studied and played with Bill Pierce, Hal Crook, Greg Hopkins, George Garzone, Dave Santoro, Jim Odgren, Ed Tomassi, Tiger Okoshi, Alain Mallet, Shannon Le Claire, Terri Lyne Carrington and Javier Limon....
