In this acoustic soul-jazz quartet, Laurent Doumont explores his own compositions along with some unexpected standards, mainly from the album « Papa Soul Talkin ». The energetic and joyful funky songs make a real contrast with some deep bluesy ballads, all in a very New-Orleans atmosphere.
The magic mix of this band : the leader’s warm voice and strong sax playing, together with the acoustic sound of a classical jazz trio. The virtuosity of Vincent Bruyninckx (piano), the inventive playing of Lionel Beuvens (drums) and the deep straight groove of Sal La Rocca (double bass) perfectly suit Laurent Doumont’s songs and present Bob Dylan or Allen Toussaint’s covers under a brand new light...
