The Cseh Péter Trio was formed in 2019 by three active figures in the Hungarian jazz scene, who had already shared numerous performances together prior to the formation of the band. Their joint creation is built upon Péter’s compositions, which, despite using mostly traditional structural solutions and sounds, never become predictable or cliché. Instead, through contrasting moods—ranging from deep and soaring to playful or even wildly scraping—the music offers a unique dive into the modern mainstream jazz ocean.

On this evening, the Trio will be joined by the outstanding pianist Dániel Szabó, who is active both in Hungary and the United States. He has collaborated with musicians such as Peter Erskine, Chris Potter, and Joe LaBarbera, as well as prominent figures of the younger generation. His latest album, Visionary, was a top contender on a leading list by the prestigious American JAZZIZ magazine, alongside Brad Mehldau and Esperanza Spalding. Szabó was invited by Chick Corea’s management to perform the closing movement of the Jazz Piano Concerto (inspired by Bartók) for Müpa, alongside John Patitucci and Dave Weckl, in the spring of 2022. In December 2023, he performed a two-piano concert with his former mentor, the Grammy-winning Danilo Pérez.
