In addition to her own compositions, Dance Without Answer, her most recent CD, includes pieces by cultic songwriters (Nick Drake, Tom Waits), the arrangement – or magical refashioning – of an early hit by Madonna, and a song by Ralph Towner (A Breath Away), whose lyrics she rewrote. Norma Winstone’s world is both youthful and mindful of the tradition, equally entertaining and engaging.
