Gyárfás Trio Feat. Agostino Di Giorgio at Jazzfest Budapest at iF Jazz Cafe

István Gyárfás (Gyafi) founded his first guitar-bass-drums trio more than 30 years ago and it has been going strong ever since.

They have released six albums (Live at the Jazz Café, Midnight in Pest, Tale, Nairobi Romance and Old Amsterdam) with soloists such as Csaba Deseő, Juli Fábián, István Fekete, István Regős, Béla Szalóky, Csaba Tűzkő, Gábor Winand and American saxophonist Big Red Ron. Their latest album is a reworking of familiar cartoon tunes entitled "Cartoon Jazz", which was performed with guest soloists to great acclaim at MÜPÁ.

They have performed with such foreign soloists as Joe Murányi, Carol Cass, Sidney Ellis, Agostino Di Giorgio, Tommy Vig, Bosko Petrovic, Eldad Tarmu, Kim Hutchcroft and Herbie Mann.

His work was honoured with the most prestigious professional lifetime achievement award, the Gábor Szabó Prize in 2016 and the 2021 Prize for Budapest.

Agostino Di Giorgio, a guitarist who has moved from America to Europe and has given masterclasses all over the world, has a very unique way of playing his instrument, even though his roots go back to the bebop era. His playing has been greatly influenced by Charlie Parker's contemporary Chuck Wayne and by the classic bebop pianist Barry Harris.
