Harmónia Jazz Workshop: Csapó Krisztián-papp Mátyás Quintet // Tribute To J.j. Johnson at Budapest Jazz Club

This year is the centenary of the birth of J.J. Johnson, one of the most influential trombone players in jazz history. It is in Johnson’s honour that tonight we present this unusual, two-trombones-led line-up, to commemorate the remarkable album he made with that other trombone hero, Kai Winding.
The rightful Hungarian heirs to Jay and Kai are KRISZTIÁN CSAPÓ and MÁTYÁS PAPP. Krisztián is well-known to the Hungarian jazz audience as a stalwart of the Budapest Ragtime Band, the László Attila Fusion Circus and the BJC Big Band. His solo project, KRIZ drew full houses. Mátyás is co-leader of the Coquette Jazz Band that boasts an international line-up, constantly appears with and the country’s leading big bands....

The rhythm section is selected from top echelon of the Hungarian jazz-scene, with ÁRON TÁLAS on piano, JÓZSEF BARCZA-HORVÁTH on bass and DÁNIEL SEREI on the drums.
