“… one of today’s most gifted and exciting trombone players.” (Franpi Barriaux, Sun Ship), Gueorgui Kornazov, born 1971 in Sevlievo, Bulgaria, had his classical studies at the L. Pipkov conservatory of music and the Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music in Sofia, Bulgaria. Already during his studies Gueorgui was introduced to jazz and shortly thereafter played with the most famous Bulgarian jazz musicians, like Milcho Leviev, Antoni Donchev, Stoyan Yankulov, Teodosi Spasov, Hristo Yotzov, and also with the clarinettist Ivo Papazov.
Since 1995 Gueorgui lives in Paris. Beside his own groups he played in Big Bands (Vienna Art Orchestra, NDR Big Band, Paris jazz Big Band, ONJ - Orchestre National de Jazz, etc.). He has performed with singers like Phil Collins, Al Jarreau, or Norma Winstone, and musicians like Toots Thielemans, Albert Mangelsdorff, Kenny Wheeler, Michel Portal, Henri Texier, Daniel Humair, Anouar Brahem, Andy Sheppard, Louis Sclavis, John Lewis, Evan Parker and many others...
Antoni Donchev, born 1959 in Bourgas, Bulgaria, earned all the major prestigious Bulgarian jazz awards over the last 20 years. His group, Acoustic Version, was awarded the Grand Prix at the Jazz Contest in Belgium in 1985, at its very first performance on a European music stage. Since then Antoni Donchev and Acoustic Version achieved great success at numerous international jazz festivals in Nurenberg, Bombay, Delhi, Warsaw, Prague, Zagreb, Moscow, Hanover, Tbilisi, Thessaloniki or Istanbul. Alongside his activities with Acoustic Version, Antoni Donchev realizes a number of other projects with musicians from Europe and the US (Kenny Wheeler, George Garzone, Tomasz Stańko, Tommy Smith, Glen Moore, Vladimir Tarasov, Eric Vloeimans, Lars Danielsson, Zoltán Lantos, or the NDR Big Band). He is a real contemporary musician, who can easily and skilfully handle a broad variety of forms both in performing and composing. He is able to combine effortlessly the versatility of jazz with folklore or classical music in all their aspects.
