Kinga Glyk, a Polish-born bassist, worked with five-time Grammy Award-winning producer Michael League (Snarky Puppy, David Crosby) on her latest album, with Grammy-winning sound engineer Nic Hard (Snarky Puppy, Charlie Hunter, Ute Lemper) behind the controls.
"In our first conversation, Michael asked me what I wanted to say with my music," says Kinga Glyk. "I told him I wanted to lead the music with the bass guitar, but I didn’t want people to think it was just a bassist's album. The idea was to create beautiful songs. Music can still be interesting and strong enough to touch your heart even without lyrics. I love using music to describe my feelings and to create beautiful songs that can touch someone’s heart, without them necessarily thinking, 'Oh, this was definitely made by a bass player.' She has collaborated with such talented musicians as aerophonist Casey Benjamin (Robert Glasper Experiment), drummer Robert "Sput" Searight (Snarky Puppy, Ghost-Note), and a team of exceptional keyboardists, including Caleb McCampbell (Beyoncé, Michael Bublé), Julian Pollack (Marcus Miller, David Sanborn, Joe Lovano), Nicholas Semrad (Miss Lauryn Hill, Talib Kweli, Bootsy Collins), and Brett Williams (Marcus Miller, Mumford and Sons, Stevie Wonder).
Her talent is further validated by the fact that Marcus Miller invited her for a duet performance.
