Adam Bałdych, winner of ECHO Jazz 2013 among his numerous prestigious awards, started performing internationally at the age of 16, mesmerizing audiences in Germany, Poland, Serbia, Hungary, Indonesia, Spain, France and the USA. The prodigy soon evolved to be one of the most interesting and best known jazz violinists in Europe. He recorded Imaginary Room, his first album for the prestigious ACT label in 2012. The album was produced by Siggi Loch and Nils Landgren with contribution of leading European jazz artists Lars Danielsson, Jacob Karlzon, Verneri Pohjola, Marius Neset and Morten Lund. His second ACT release The New Tradition, this time with Israeli pianist Yaron Herman, came in 2014. Jazz at Berlin Philharmonic IV - Accordion Night, a recording from a concert within the Jazz at Berlin Philharmonic series, was released recently, while his latest album, Adam Bałdych & Helge Lien Trio's Bridges appeared in the end of August this year on ACT. The members of the Imaginary Quartet are outstanding musicians of the Polish jazz scene. Pianist, composer, producer and arranger Paweł Tomaszewski graduated from Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, Poland and is now a professor at its Department of Jazz. Beside his own trio, winner of different national awards, Paweł Tomaszewski performs with the Jarosław Śmietana Quartet, Grzegorz Nagórski Quartet, Quintessence, Mika Urbaniak's band or the Damage Control. In June 2006 he was a member of Dean Brown Quartet and Eric Marienthal International Band during their European tour. Bassist Michał Kapczuk graduated from the Jazz Department at the Chopin Music School in Warsaw and the Academy of Music in Katowice, Poland. His projects have been awarded in Poland and abroad. Kapczuk performed in various prestigious festivals in Poland as well as France, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Belgium, Holland, Spain, Germany and Canada. Percussionist Krzysztof Szmańda graduated from the Jazz Department at the Chopin Music School in Warsaw and he studied at USC Thornton School of Music in Los Angeles as a student of Peter Erskine, Erik Forrester and Ndugu Chancler, among others. Szmańda has been a co-founder of the jazz quartet Soundcheck – an ensemble that has won numerous prizes at many renowned jazz festivals. He cooperated with Zbigniew Namysłowski’s big band and with artists Kuba Stankiewicz, Mariusz Bogdanowicz, Włodek Pawlik, Adam Bałdych, Janusz Szrom, Keith Javors and also Trifonidis Orchestra and the Visegrad Jazz Quartet.
