Dmitri Matheny with Charlie Shoemake Trio at Cambria Center For The Arts

Cambria Center for the Arts (CCA) in association with the Famous Jazz Artist Series presents renowned flugelhornist Dmitri Matheny on Sunday, February 1, 2015, 3:00 and 7:00 pm, at the CCA Theater in Cambria.

The concert, part of a 100-city tour of the United States, will spotlight favorite selections from Matheny’s recordings, balancing fresh, original works with familiar jazz classics, hard bop, west coast cool and beloved standards from the Great American Songbook.

Celebrated for his warm tone, soaring lyricism and masterful technique, American musician Dmitri Matheny has been lauded as “the first breakthrough flugelhornist since Chuck Mangione” (San Jose Mercury News). Matheny is an honors graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan and the Berklee College of Music, Boston. First introduced to jazz audiences in the 1990s as the protégé of the legendary Art Farmer, Matheny has matured into “one of the jazz world's most talented horn players” (San Francisco Chronicle), touring internationally and releasing ten critically acclaimed CDs. ...

Charlie and Sandi Shoemake's Famous Jazz Artist Series has presented touring musicians on the California central coast since 1991. Located in the historic old schoolhouse on Main Street, the Cambria Center for the Arts theater and gallery offer cultural and educational programs year-round.
