1300 on Fillmore, owners and “Fillmore” visionaries, Monetta White and Executive Chef David Lawrence, were looking for a way to share their love of great music and fine food, while paying homage to the Fillmore District’s rich heritage. 1300 on Fillmore is proud to present Singer-Songwriter extraordinaire Billy Valentine, of the famed R&B group Valentine Brothers (“Money’s Too Tight To Mention”). Billy’s talent & copious credits run deep. He began his solo career opening for such legendary acts as Donny Hathaway & Roberta Flack. The lead singer for Young Holt Unltd., he also has toured with the First National Company of “The Wiz,” lead vocalist of the Robert Townsend film “The Five Heartbeats” and is most recently known as the voice of the hit ABC television show “Boston Legal.” As a songwriter, Billy has written numerous songs: “Family Groove” -Neville Bros., co-wrote the title track “My World” for Ray Charles, including recording with such hit makers as Gerry Goffin, Burt Bacharach & Hal David just to name a few. Billy’s latest CD “Travelin’ Light” can currently be heard on jazz stations across America. If you like Ray Charles, Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye or Nat King Cole, run don’t walk, this promises to be an unforgettable evening. Just back from performances in London Billy will be making a special one-night appearance in the Bay Area to kick off the Salon series with style.
