The Modern-Old Jazz Appreciation Society (Mojazz) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to educating the general public about the historical significance of the Cape Town's musical heritage, which is jazz. Membership to the organisation is opened to all born South Africans; blacks, coloureds and whites. A member of the governing body, Cape Town Human Developent(CDHT), the body governing 13 divisions + 23 sub divisions.The Mojazz, which is governed by the Supreme Arts Council, sponsors jazz performances by musicians who are card carrying members of Thandanani Botaki (or Artists Love One Another). It gives support and aid to Thandanani Botaki members. It also takes an active part in Khayalagunya jazz, whose aim is to strengthen jazz in Khayelitsha, Langa, Gugulethu and Nyanga( or Khayalagunya as these townships are called today) and also through the entire Western Cape Province.. It also arranges courses, clinics with international artists and has a library of newspapers. cds. videos, periodicals and a press archive. The Modern-Old Jazz Appreciation is also dedicated to the promotion of live jazz in the townships, rural areas where it will organise regular monthly concerts featuring Thandanani Botaki members. MISSION Our mission is to broadened the appreciation and presence of South African music artform and culture called Jazz among people of all ages from eight (8) to eightty (80) through technology, education and performance in Khayelitsha, Langa, Gugulethu and Nyanga.
