Opening with a programme inspired by French Burlesque of the 20s and 30s, the composers Jacques Ibert, Erik Satie, Germaine Tailleferre and Darius Milhaud all had one thing in common, alongside their more traditional compositions, they were all great early film music writers, so it is no wonder their music is so roaringly vivid and pleasantly picturesque.
