The Charleston Jazz Orchestra (CJO) presents Living For The City, The Music Of Stevie Wonder. The concert will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at The Charleston Music Hall and will feature such popular hits as “Sir Duke,” “Superstition,” and “I Just Called To Say I Love You.”
The inspiration for this concert arose as the CJO musicians brainstormed about whom they would want to celebrate and many agreed Stevie Wonder was top of that list. “Not only is Stevie known for his mastery of songwriting, vocals, and proficiency on multiple instruments, he has ALWAYS been a tremendously passionate humanitarian,” exclaimed Charlton Singleton, Music Director for the CJO. “Even though he is best known for his R&B and Pop tunes, it is no secret that he plays, writes, and uses a number of jazz elements (including personnel) in his music. The biggest challenge will be whittling down the song list to 90 minutes or less - there are so many classics to choose from!
