The Charlottesville Jazz Society Presents Lynn Riley And The World Mix at Brooks Hall

The Charlottesville Jazz Society continues its mission to bring the music of female jazz instrumentalists to the attention of a larger audience with a concert by Lynn Riley and The World Mix. Lynn’s music, which she calls World Zoot, has been described as “infectious melodies over driving funk and world rhythms—with much respect to straight ahead jazz, gospel and blues.“
Lynn, who is on the faculty at Drexel University, has performed with many great musicians including Grover Washington Jr., Philly Joe Jones, Charles Earland and David Murray. She has performed not only in the United States, but has expanded her world music vocabulary by working with musicians in countries like Cuba, South Africa, Bolivia, Brazil and Columbia, adding fresh material to The World-Mix repertoire....

For this Charlottesville concert, which is co-sponsored by WTJU radio, The World Mix will feature Lynn Riley and sax and flute, Aaron Graves, piano, Rubin Edwards, bass and Keith Hollis, drums.
