On Sunday November 15th at 7:30 pm in UVA’s Brooks Hall, The Charlottesville Jazz Society and WTJU welcome guitarist and composer Joel Harrison back to Charlottesville.
Named a Guggenheim Fellow in 2010, Washington D.C. native Joel Harrison has long been recognized as a highly gifted guitarist, composer, arranger, vocalist and songwriter. He has released nearly 20 cds since 1995 as a leader. Possessed of a restless musical spirit, Harrison’s most recent recordings include 2015’s Spirit House (a quintet featuring trumpet and bassoon), and 2014’s Mother Stump, a power trio disc. The New Orleans Times Picayune says “Add Joel Harrison to Metheny and Frisell as guitarist/ composers who have created a new blueprint for jazz.”...
