International Jazz Day Event to be held in Batavia for 5th straight year.

In celebration of International Jazz Day on April 30th, 2016 Matt Erion and friends will host a Jazz Jam session at Kiss The Sky Records, located at 180 First Street in Batavia. The Jam session will start at 6pm and all ages and skills are welcome at this family-friendly event. Music fans are invited to come and hear the music and interact with the musicians.

Presented each year on April 30th in partnership with the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz, International Jazz Day highlights the power of jazz as a force for freedom and creativity, promotes intercultural dialogue through respect and understanding, and unites people from all corners of the globe. This event is one of 100’s that will take place worldwide, on every continent. Washington DC is the host city for this year’s global celebration which will be hosted by President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama on the lawn of the White House. The concert will be broadcast in the US on ABC and streamed at jazzday.com

UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Herbie Hancock said “Over the past five years, the innovation and creativity of Jazz Day has been a beacon of light to millions of people who find common ground and communicate through the values inherent in jazz. On April 30th, people of all ages in all corners of the globe will participate in International Jazz Day. A wide range of momentous events will take place in thousands of neighborhoods - and the streets will be alive with the sounds of peace and freedom”
