Michael Mason, Jazz Flutist, records for the Chicago based independent jazz label Southport Records, and has released (5) compact disc
recording projects with the "Exploration" and "Visionary" projects being pre-nominated for Grammy Awards in various jazz categories.

New Projects for 2014 include "The Presence of Absence" (Solo and Duo project with flute and percussion) and "Miles and Miles of Smiles"
(Tribute project with the Exploratory Ensemble, dedicated to the legendary Miles Davis).

Mason's 4th CD "Angels of Fire" is dedicated to the (92) students and (3) Catholic nuns who perished in the tragic "Our Lady of the Angels" Catholic School Fire on December 1st, 1958 in Chicago where Michael was a first grade student. He is one of five students from "Our Lady of the Angels" who have become firefighters. Michael Mason is not only an accomplished jazz flutist, but he is also a commissioned officer lieutenant serving in the fire service for the past 28 years.

Kirk Brown, pianist, has been involved in the music industry for over twenty-five years, performing with jazz greats including his brother, Ari Brown, Eddie Harris, Gary Bartz, Kidd Jordan, Elvin Jones, Wynton Marsalis, and members of the AACM. His own company, "Kirk's Works" provides a variety of musical services: performance, sound reinforcement, studio/mobile recording, songwriting/publishing & more.
