Spider Saloff at Victory Gardens’ Richard Christiansen Theater

Acclaimed vocalist, actor and songwriter Spider Saloff brings the Chicago premiere of her highly entertaining one-woman musical, “The Roar of the Butterfly,” to Victory Gardens’ Richard Christiansen Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Avenue May 3 – 20. In the tradition of Lilly Tomlin and Tracey Ullman, Saloff portrays eight different characters in this hysterical and moving new musical comedy. With this engagement, Saloff brings the production to her hometown before off-Broadway and Edinburgh Fringe Festival engagements. “The Roar of the Butterfly” features a book, music, and lyrics by Saloff. Contributing writers are Jim Sellers (who is also musical director and arranger) and Steve Ramsdell. Pianist is Jeremy Kahn. There will be a preview performance on Wednesday, May 2 at 7:30 p.m. Press opening is Thursday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. Post-opening schedule is Thursday - Saturday at 8 p.m.; Sunday at 2 p.m. Seating is general admission.
