Featuring Phil DeGreg, the Samba Jazz Syndicate was formed in 2008 following Phil's Fulbright Fellowship residency at the University of Campinas, near Sao Paulo Brazil.
The band features Phil on piano, trumpeter Kim Pensyl and vibraphonist Rusty Burge, all professors at the University of Cincinnati's College Conservatory of Music. The group performs a popular Brazilian repertoire of samba, bossa-nova, choro, baiao and frevo styles, plus original music and improvisations.
