The great bassist / violinist / poet Henry Grimes in discussion with a panel of interdisciplinary scholars about Albert Ayler, including “relationships between America and Europe, freedom and order, and spirituality and jazz.” Henry Grimes played, toured, and recorded five phenomenal albums with Albert Ayler between 1964 and '66, and in just the past six years, Henry has also played more than 50 concerts of Albert Ayler's music in 15 countries with Marc Ribot's Spiritual Unity quartet, with one CD on the Pi Recordings label issued so far. The March 17th event takes place at Case Western Reserve University, Thwing Center Ballroom, 11111 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, Ohio, free and open to the public, registration recommended, 216-368-266O, [email protected], [email protected].
