On Sunday, January 30th, saxophonist Daniel Bennett and author Jack Kelley team up for "Jazz and Books" at the Brooklyn Lyceum. This special collaborative performance will feature Bennett's original Folk Jazz music in conjunction with live book readings from some of NYC's most important authors. The show is from 9pm - 11pm and admission is just $10 at the door.

Critically acclaimed New York saxophonist Daniel Bennett has recently shared concert stages with national artists like Bill Frisell, Charlie Hunter, James Carter, Billy Martin (Medeski, Martin & Wood), Jerry Bergonzi, and David Fiuczynski. The Boston Herald described Daniel Bennett’s music as, “exploratory folk-jazz.” The Boston Phoenix described Bennett's style as, "an unusual folk-minimalist approach." Harkening back to the beat generation, this special performance will feature collaborations with top local NYC authors, poets, and playwrights. It's an exploration in mingling creative genres as well as a showcase for top independent creative talent, featuring Carter Edwards (Prose editor of Pax Americana) Cynthia Foo-Briante (Head of the Brooklyn Writers' Guild) Nathaniel Kressen (Author of Concrete Fever) Cameron Page (NYC playwright and winner of the Lerner Prize) Sarah Relyea (Author of Outsider Citizens) and Jack Kelley (Author of The Standing One). To cap it all off, saxophonist Daniel Bennett and author/producer Jack Kelley will be collaborating on a unique rendition of a selection from Jack Kerouac!
