CJF is excited to co-present an upcoming watch party dedicated to James P. Johnson’s quintessential masterpiece of stride piano, Carolina Shout.

In Johnson’s time, piano cutting contests were proving grounds—most often in Harlem apartments—where competing pianists could strut their stuff. For this premiere collaboration, four top pianists of today will test their hands in a modern-day channeling of the classic cutting contests — Ethan Iverson , Aaron Diehl , Sullivan Fortner , and Mathis Picard....
