Bios:The Youngbloods is a trio formed out of Bowling Green State Univeritys College of Musical Arts. As the name suggests, the trio is built from young talent who is looking to make their mark through unique arrangements of standards, original compositions, and an overall modern sound that excites listeners. As the name suggests, the trio is built from young talent who is looking to make their mark through unique arrangements of standards, original compositions, and an overall modern sound that excites listeners. The trio is excited to be joined by Clevelands own Bill Mcrae, who is a regular performer at the Treelawn and brings unprecedented soul through his tenor and soprano saxophone.Luca Albano was born in Rome, Italy in 2004, and started his piano studies there in about 2008. Since then, he and his family ended up in Rochester, NY, where he spent 9 years studying classical piano with the pre-collegiate program at the Eastman Community Music School. Now a student at BGSU, studying both classical piano performance and jazz studies, he is looking to develop his overall mastery of the instrument. Thomas Johnston is an Australian-born multi-instrumentalist and composer. Thomas composes and arranges all kinds of works of varying styles and genres for different chamber ensembles, jazz bands, wind ensembles, and orchestral ensembles. He currently is studying music composition and jazz studies at Bowling Green State University. His teachers include Dr. Christopher Dietz, Dr. Piyawat Louilarpprasert, and Jeffrey Halsey. Thomas holds top positions in BGSUs jazz ensembles, where he regularly plays among faculty, graduate students, and frequently plays in masterclasses. He has played and participated in masterclasses for Tamir Hendleman, Amos Hoffman, Allison Miller, David Gompper, and Vincent Herring. Based in Cleveland, Evan Palermo is an on-call musician who currently Studies at Bowling Green State University under the direction of Mr. Bradley Billmair and Dr. Dan Piccolo . Dating back to high school, Evan has played in numerous orchestral ensembles, one of note being the Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony, where he was a three-year member and performed multiple concerts at Severance Hall. Evan has also been an active performer in the jazz scene playing in big bands and combo groups, which have led to performances at venues such as the Bop Stop and a residency at Cedar Fairs own Sawmill Creek Hotel. Evan has had the joy of recording and/or performing with talented musicians such as Vincent Herring, Sam Nasar, Harrison Roth, Ed Michaels, and many more. Evan is a proud recipient of the Percussive Arts Society Ohio Chapter PASIC scholarship.
