Bandleader and composer Emiliano Sampaio virtuously switches back and forth between trombone and guitar, sometimes within the songs, experimenting with loops and digital effects, layering sounds and creating unexpected colors.

In 2021, the meretrio released a new album „Choros“, dedicated entirely to Brazilian music. „Choros“ was nominated for the German Record Critics and received great reviews.

The Meretrio is internationally acclaimed and has performed at renowned festivals and clubs in Brazil (including Savassi Jazz Fest, Jazz na Fábrica), Europe (including Most und Jazz, Bayerisches Jazz Weekend, Porgy & Bess, Bremen Sende Saal) and Australia (including Perth Jazz Fest, Jazz Lab).
