No other musician has stood for the LOFT and the musical content that we (preferably) represent for 30 years now than Frank Gratkowski.
I had heard him before I founded the LOFT, and then at an improvisation evening organized by bass player Matthias Bauer in November 1989, he played here for the first time , and countless concerts and CD recordings followed. Frank was the musician on whom I then "built my LOFT", produced his first solo CD articulations in 1990, and a long-lasting friendship with great musical highlights began....

I had heard him before I founded the LOFT, and then at an improvisation evening organized by bass player Matthias Bauer in November 1989, he played here for the first time , and countless concerts and CD recordings followed. Frank was the musician on whom I then "built my LOFT", produced his first solo CD articulations in 1990, and a long-lasting friendship with great musical highlights began.
Now he has been living in Berlin for a long time, and we are grateful that he is coming to Cologne for these two concerts.

The first concert evening is the fulfillment of a long wish of mine:
Frank Gratkowski plays standards.
Together with Simon Seidl, a pianist highly valued here, there is a rare opportunity to experience Frank in this genre, in a concert with which he also wants to honor the late Lee Konitz, who had been living in Cologne since 1998, and often visited the LOFT (and also produced here) e.g. for concerts by the Trio Gratkowski–Kaufmann–de Joode.
Compositions by Konitz, Ellington and other standards will be played.
