No other musician has stood for the LOFT and the musical content that we (preferably) represent for 30 years now than Frank Gratkowski.
I had heard him before I founded the LOFT, and then at an improvisation evening organized by bass player Matthias Bauer in November 1989, he played here for the first time , and countless concerts and CD recordings followed. Frank was the musician on whom I then "built my LOFT", produced his first solo CD articulations in 1990, and a long-lasting friendship with great musical highlights began....

Now he has been living in Berlin for a long time, and we are grateful that he is coming to Cologne for these two concerts.

On the second evening, Frank will - and this is how our story began in the LOFT – play solo.

In addition, he invited his former student Leonhard Huhn, who will present excerpts from his own solo program. Afterwards, both will be heard as a duo for the first time. Frank is not only an excellent musician and saxophonist (also flutist!), but also a successful and valued teacher now for many years. Many of his students are present in the jazz and improvising music scene.
