The loops were recorded in advance with flute, clarinet and soprano sax, partly edited and played back to live music. The result is a powerful construct that can go hand in hand with coincidences in a clear structure.

This not only creates delightful sonic frictions between the acoustic instruments and digital phrases, but also random shading and overlapping of the form and structure of the pieces as well as the mixtures of contemporary jazz, loud prog rock or swirling techno that can be heard in them. The fact that the result sounds neither simple-minded nor simplistic also has to do with the fact that Räther and Gessler groove so wonderfully together and Mattner can often be a great inventor of really heart-warming melodies on the tenor saxophone.”
