First appearance in Denver outside of Dazzle and City Park Jazz, this is Denver's opportunity to hear great instrumental Brazilian jazz! Way beyond bossa nova, this group has mined the roots of modern Brazilian sound. Currently called "choro jazz" in Brazil, the music emerged simultaneous with New Orleans jazz, fourished and is now heard as samba & bossa. The Quintet, like their Brazilian counterparts, invokes just enough compelling "forró" and the listening/dance party is started.

Dexter Payne was voted a finalist in DownBeat Readers Poll twice. He and Bill Kopper recorded with Rene Marie. Bill has recorded with many jazz greats of Denver, including Brad Goode, and he, Raoul Rossiter and Victor Mestas were just at Nocturne and Dazzle with Ginga. Dave Willey played for a long stand at Dazzle with Julie Monley and he is the primary composer for Hamster Theatre (yes, Raoul is Hamster's drummer). Victor moved here from Caracas (where he recorded on a Latin Grammy CD) 3 years back and has taken CO by storm.
