Honk, Wail & Moan crosses paths with the music of Sun Ra, Charles Mingus, Ellington, Miles Davis, Frank Zappa, Raymond Scott, Lightnin Hopkins, Howlin Wolf and Stravinsky and are influenced by Avant Garde to New Orleans Traditional to Cartoon music. HWM mainly perform the original music of our members, especially the late Brian A Casey and Mark B Greenwood.
Formed in 1991, HWM has performed all over Columbus, the Midwest and even Thailand, Philadelphia, Virginia Beach and NYC. They’ve been called a lot of things too: “Roundly entertaining; raucous; inventive; serious musicianship with a wacky sense of humor; swinging in a head-nodding, foot-tapping, enveloping fashion” among other things!
