Award nominated Birgitte Soojin is a Korean-born, Norwegian-raised jazz vocalist. Her debut album, ‘Hi-Lo’, is an elegant, assured reworking of American songbook standards, from the Thirties to the Fifties. Her voice, sultry, expressive, with great technical agility, is perfect for these songs, into which she breathes fresh life. Her future as a musician was soon considered well established and very promising after her critically acclaimed debut album «Hi-Lo» was nominated for a Danish Music Award for THE BEST VOCAL JAZZ ALBUM OF THE YEAR in the fall of 2011.

Birgitte Soojin was studying theology as a guest-student in Copenhagen, when her life was turned around by the meeting of danish jazz. Today she is touring with her own bands and as a popular guest performer on festivals and clubs. Though her repertoire is mainly made of recreated American jazz standards, she’ll confidently add to this powerful blues, soul and pop-hits. Den norske koreansk adopterede Birgitte Soojin er en autodidakt jazzsangerinde som bor i København. Hendes musikalske fremtid blev hurtig anset som meget lovende efter hendes
anmelderroste debutalbum «Hi-Lo» blev nomineret til en Danish Music Award for Årets bedste jazz vokal album efteråret 2011. De andre nomineret i samme kategori var bla. de veletableret artisterne Hanne Boel og Cæcilie Nordby.
”Hi-Lo” er en samling av ikke så kendte standards og en enkelt traditionel blues sang. Soojins særlige sangvalg, samt enestående fortolkningsevne stiller hende i en helt særlig klasse som jazzvokalist. Hun har nogle af Danmarks anerkendte musikere med sig.
