David Vejen Blomquist: Guitar, vocal
Nicolai Kaas Claesson: Bass
Blomquist is known for his work with Hymns From Nineveh and his recent work on Eik Skaløes lyrics...a unique opportunity to hear a very personal singer/songwriter up close!
kl 20 Carolyn Goodwin clarinet duo + piano
Carolyn Goodwin - clarinets
Valeria Conte - bass clarinet, alto sax
Olga Witte - piano
Hailing from Cork in Ireland, Carolyn Goodwin is a woodwind player who searches to constantly expand the parameters of her musicianship by exposing herself to as many musical contexts as possible. Her background in contemporary classical music has seen her play solo works written by Steve Reich and feature with Ireland's contemporary music pioneers The Crash Ensemble. She leads her own contemporary jazz ensemble, Luasc, and features with Irish chamber song group 'Clang Sayne', whose new album will be released this spring.
Take a bunch of Klezmer dancing melodies, one part of cantorial Jewish music, one part of Arabic Pop and mix that well in a Gypsy bowl adding tons of Free Improvisation. Pour it on a base of Italian classical training and bake it with passion and craziness. Valeria Conte's clarinet playing to be served.
The pianist, church organist, composer and ethnomusicologist Olga Witte often takes an outset from precomposed sketches and jumps into improvisations drawing on inspirational sources such as jazz, classical music, her long and intense fieldstudies in Bali, and mix them in new musical expressions. She plays in groups such as Aarhus Improviser’s Orchestra and Blege Ørn.
