Bob Rockwell New Trio started in 2013 with the solid bass-drum duo Jesper Thorn & Terkel Nørgaard. The trio engaged in redefinitionen of role between saxophone, bass and drums, and interact in an extremely high almost telepathic level. Repertoire is fully taken partly from Bob’s big book catalog, which contains a lot of songs from the 1920s and 1930s Broadway to Blues and Gospel.
Everything from swing jazz and uptempoes, from groovy to ballads to the unknown and deeply spontaneous.The Bob Rockwell New Trio gives me the chance to improvise on form without relying on set modes of improvisation. Bob Rockwell New Trio startede i 2013, sammen med det faste bas-tromme makkerpar Jesper Thorn & Terkel Nørgaard. Trioen beskæftiger sig med redefinitionen af rollen mellem saxofon, kontrabas og trommer, og spiller sammen på et yderst højt nærmest telepatisk niveau. Repertoiret er taget fra Bobs store bogkatalog, der rummer en masse numre fra 1920’erne & 1930’ernes Broadway til Blues og Gospel.
