he has worked with Ikscheltaschel, Quadron, The Broken Beats and The Black Nothing, with Clara Bryld and in countless improvised musical situations. we are very proud to be able to spotlight this unique and very versatile contemporary artist at the Mandagsklubben. his residency will be for the first 3 weeks of april
3 april
we celebrate the new month by having a marathon night at the club..starting at 7pm and ending around 1am...it will be impossible to go home
kl 19 Callewaert/Ruiz meet Justesen and Demuynck
Jeppe Justesen - drums
Stijn Demuynck - drums
Vincent Ruiz - double bass
Stan Callewaert - double bass
Callewaert/Ruiz is a Belgian/Swiss double bass duo evolving in the world of textural sonic elements and minimalist improvisations through loose guidelines. An immersion into the depth of the instrument’s micro details.
For this special occasion the duo will join forces with drum-wizards Stijn Demuynck (BE) and Jeppe Justesen (DK).
kl 20 THINGS TO SOUNDS
Tobias Meier - sax
Yves Theiler - piano/keys
David Meier - drums
"The beauty of things: Hear this triumvirate, it has extended the things for more than their basic nominal value, it has laid a track into the darkness in which we all grope, and it is worth to follow it, like Winnetou once bravely and fearlessly went on the path of the great Manitou. There is need for this fearlessness and for a big heart, pulsating towards the unheard. (Omri Ziegele)"
kl 21 Højgaard / Mofjell / Dabrowski / Olsson
Ole Mofjell - drums
Thomas Dabrowski - trumpet
Henrik Olsson - guitar
Jeppe Højgaard - sax, clarinet
for his first residency night Jeppe Højgaard has assembled a virtual allstar cast of mandagsklubben regulars. top players all of them. the great Mofjell ("the choice of a new generation") has played with everybody from Thurston Moore to Erik Kimestad, Dabrowski is staying on a consistently high level and Olsson is reaching for the stars!
kl 22 David’s Angels:
Sofie Norling - vocals, live-electronics
Maggi Olin - Rhodes/piano
David Carlsson - electric bass/FX
Special guest - Peter Nilsson: drums/percussion
Underneath it all it’s not always what it seems. Dark sounds and pure melodies, angel-like and brutal. The musicians born in the 60's, 70's and 80's are influenced by different styles;
jazz, rock and avant-garde.
“The allure of Danish-Swedish quartet David’s Angels comes from their uneasy truce among chanteuse jazz, avant-Prog and indie rock, and the tension that creates. The attraction also comes from the minimalist arrangements creating plenty of exposed moments, and music that’s direct. And lastly, it’s the amazingly adaptive vocal of Sofie Norling”
kl 23 Snekkested/Kjærgaard/Jacobson
Torben Snekkested - sax
Søren Kjærgaard - keys
Tomo Jacobson - bass
here are three improvisors who are ready to go all the way and probably will!
all are favorites at the club and among some of the most distinct voices in town. Snekkestad and Kjærgaard have worked together in the band "Living Room" for years..Jacobson is a relatively new addition
a real treat!
kl 24 Ghost Flute and Dice
Mikkel Almholdt - prepared piano
"As a kid I often fooled around with the contents of the bathroom cupboard. Taking a little of everything I mixed toothpaste, perfume, shavingfoam and whatever else was in there into my own mystical brew. Likewise Ghost Flute & Dice takes the inside of the piano and mixes it up with live effects, drumsticks, screws and whammypedals to make a sonic drink that cleanses and refreshes your ears."
