So many amazing bands are performing in November that I have decided to postpone the monthly artist in residence. thats coming back in December when the incredible Kasper Tranberg is residing. In november we have performances from the great composer/pianist Chris Brown, the worldclass avantgarde barytone vocalist Tom Buckner, the 8 piece Chicago based neo ensemble Mocrep is playing with Macela Lucatelli, The legendary Japanese rock-punk-jazz-experimental band, HIKASHU (founded in 1978) led by pseudo-kabuki vocalist and thereminist, Koichi Makigami is coming...its just going to be the most incredible month in the history of mandagsklubben!! all i can say is be there from beginning to end each week and tell your friends.
on a month like this there is no other place to be at a time like this!
kl 20 Bøje / Friis / Zeeberg
Claus Bøje - drums
Peter Friis Nielsen - el bass
Jeppe Zeeberg - piano
Denmarks most exiting Rhythm section meets the amazing Jeppe Zeeberg.
We have said it before and we will say it again. We are very fortunate that master drummer Claus Bøje and electric bass genius Peter Friis Nielsen have chosen mandagsklubben as their regular venue. for the last 4 years they have been showcasing different collaborations and this time its a first time meeting with the brilliant young pianist/composer Jeppe Zeeberg. be there early. it will be packed!
kl 21 Tom Buckner / Kresten Osgood duo
Tom Buckner - vox
Kresten Osgood - drums
This could potentially be one of the highlights of the month.
For decades, baritone Thomas Buckner has dedicated himself to the promotion and performance of new and improvised music, collaborating with a host of new music luminaries including Robert Ashley, Noah Creshevsky, Tom Hamilton, Earl Howard, Matthias Kaul, Leroy Jenkins, Bun Ching Lam, Annea Lockwood, Roscoe Mitchell, Phill Niblock, Wadada Leo Smith, Chinary Ung, Christian Wolff and many others.
we still cannot believe that this megastar of contemporary music is gonna be at the monday club. Osgood and Buckner have several things in common. both have played duo with Jerome Cooper and both have worked with Roscoe Mitchell and Wadada Leo Smith, but the two of them have never met before this november monday night. be there!!!

Mocrep is a Chicago-based ensemble dedicated to the performance of radical, 21st century music that engages with contemporary culture - aesthetically, socially and politically. For this experience, the Brazilian CPH-based composer and vocal performer Marcela Lucatelli invites the eight present members of the ensemble touring Denmark to employ all their outrageous performative capacities and post-instrumentalisms for an improvised set, which goes anywhere but common sense. BE THERE!!!

Laura Toxværd(DK) - alto sax
Gianluca Elia(IT) - tenor sax
Henrik Olsson(SE) - guitar
Arvid Ingvarsson(SE) - drums

The great young bassist Jonatan Bak has recently returned from a very fruitful stay in New York. here he presents a very strong new quintet- Ingvarsson has been a partner for years, Olson is the exiting new sound on guitar and Elia is wonderful improviser from italy, located in Denmark. the real surprise is the presence of Laura Toxværd who is almost a veteran in this company. she has been playing and composing consistently great music for over 20 years now. founding member of the ILK collective and a highly expressive player.
kl 24 ERICSON / NÄSTESJÖ / BERRE
Sture Ericson (SE) - saxophones & clarinet
Johannes Nästesjö (DK) - double bass
Håkon Berre (NO) – drums
With 6 international tours over the last three years, and several festival gigs around Europe, the trio Ericson/Nästesjö/Berre has begun to attract some attention. The group consists of Sture Ericson (SE) - saxophones and clarinet, Johannes Nästesjö (SE) - bass and Håkon Berre (NO) - drums. Ericson and Berre, both based in Copenhagen, have worked together in different constellations in recent years, e.g. the Maria Faust Jazz Catastrophe. In the autumn of 2014, they met bassist Johannes Nästesjö from Malmo and formed the trio ENB. Based on saxophone, clarinet, bass and drums, as well as various objects and preparations, the trio explores different aspects of free improvisation. This has resulted in a varied soundscape with a wide range of influences ranging from improvisations focusing on tonal textures, to pitch-related linear playing with relations to the free jazz- and jazz tradition.
