Rieko Okuda is a pianist and a composer from Japan. She began to play Classical music at the age of 3. She also studied Music Therapy at Doshisha Women College. Music Therapy led her into Contemporary music and Improvised music. After she graduated from the college, she moved to USA to study Jazz music. She fell right into the Jazz scene in USA, performing with some of the great American Jazz musicians (Bob Mintzer, Jon Faddis, John Fedchock etc) at several jazz festivals such as North Texas Jazz Festival, Nortredam Jazz Festival to name a few. A couple of years later, she got interested in Free Jazz and Improvised music while she was in Phliladelphia. She performed with the great improvisers includes Marshall Allen (from San Ra Orchestra), Elliott Levine (recorded with Cecil Taylor), and Calvin Weston (recorded with Ornette Coleman). Her interests in Improvised music led her to move to Berlin. She performs with various musicians in Berlin ex. Tobias Delius, Axel Dörner, Els Vendaweyer, Linda Frederickson, ect. Also, she collaborates with contemporary dancers such as Yuko Kaseki, Akemi Nagao, and Annapaola Leso (from Sasha Waltz.) She performs at several experimental festivals: A'Larme Festival, JOE Festival Essen, Brda Contemporary Music Festival, XChange Festival, Experymental Festival, Flux Festival, and Soundance Festival to name a few....

In 2017 and 2018, she got the residency in Elektronik Music Studio (EMS) in Stockholm, Sweden. This residency experiences inspired her to Electro-Acoustic field, and she started to invite the electronics to her piano solo pieces. Her first Electro-Acoustic solo album "Paranorm" was released from Japanese record lable, Athor Harmonics, on Feburary 2018. "Paranorm" was performed at Koncertkirken Blagards Plads (DK), Ausland, FLUX Festival (DE), and Vardklockans Församling (SE).
In 2020, she has gotten the residency in Visby International Centere for Composers (VICC) to extend her experience, and find more possibilities to create various sounds and composition techniques.
PRiMi is supported by Musikudvalget and Kultur & Fritidsudvalget in Københavns Kommune, Statens Kunstfond, Roskilde Festival Fonden, Vesterbro Lokaludvalg, and Koda Kultur.

Rieko Okuda er en pianist og komponist fra Japan. Hun begyndte at spille klassisk musik i en alder af 3 år. Hun studerede også musikterapi på Doshisha Women College. Musikterapi førte hende ind i samtidsmusik og improviseret musik. Efter hun var færdig med college, flyttede hun til USA for at studere jazzmusik. Hun faldt lige ind i jazzscenen i USA og optrådte med nogle af de store amerikanske jazzmusikere (Bob Mintzer, Jon Faddis, John Fedchock osv.) på flere jazzfestivaler såsom North Texas Jazz Festival, Nortredam Jazz Festival for at nævne nogle få. Et par år senere blev hun interesseret i fri jazz og improviseret musik, mens hun var i Philadelphia. Hun optrådte med store improvisatorer inklusive Marshall Allen (fra San Ra Orchestra), Elliott Levine (optaget med Cecil Taylor) og Calvin Weston (optaget med Ornette Coleman). Hendes interesse for improviseret musik førte hende til at flytte til Berlin. Hun optræder med forskellige musikere i Berlin, f.eks. Tobias Delius, Axel Dörner, Els Vendaweyer, Linda Frederickson osv. Derudover samarbejder hun med samtidsdansere som Yuko Kaseki, Akemi Nagao og Annapaola Leso (fra Sasha Waltz). Hun optræder ved flere eksperimentelle festivaler: A'Larme Festival, JOE Festival Essen, Brda Contemporary Music Festival, XChange Festival, Experymental Festival, Flux Festival og Soundance Festival for at nævne nogle få.
I 2017 og 2018 fik hun ophold på Elektronik Music Studio (EMS) i Stockholm, Sverige. Disse opholdsoplevelser inspirerede hende til det elektroakustiske felt, og hun begyndte at invitere elektronik ind i sine solostykker på klaveret. Hendes første elektroakustiske soloalbum "Paranorm" blev udgivet af det japanske pladeselskab, Athor Harmonics, i februar 2018. "Paranorm" blev opført ved Koncertkirken Blagards Plads (DK), Ausland, FLUX Festival (DE) og Vardklockans Församling (SE). I 2020 fik hun ophold på Visby International Centere for Composers (VICC) for at udvide sin erfaring og finde flere muligheder for at skabe forskellige lyde og kompositionsteknikker.
