Hye Young Sin is an artist originally from Seoul, residing in Berlin, Germany. She explores the interplay of sound, movement, form, and material through various artistic mediums such as performances, installations, sculptures, and compositions. Her approach emphasizes on the acoustic attributes inherent in diverse materials, making a statement on the artistic possibilities lying within the ordinary by re-signifying and recontextualizing. Sin's educational background includes a degree in Consumer Science with a joint major in
Information and Culture Technology from Seoul National University in South Korea. Then she completed a diploma at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne, Germany. Her works have been prominently featured at exhibitions and media/sound art festivals such as the next
generation 8.0 at ZKM in Karlsruhe, Sound/Image 19 in London, 21st Seoul International ALT Cinema & Media Festival in Seoul, and INSONORA in Madrid. Her improvisations took place in many cities including at FRIM in Stockholm, Camping 58 in Brussels, IMPAKT in Cologne.

Hungry Ghosts are beings who are driven by intense emotional needs, periodically roaming the earth’s surface in search for anything that can satisfy their cravings. Now they are here for you! The omnipotent living legend Paal-Nilssen Love clashes head to head with his prodigy Christian Meaas Svendsen on bass, playing with 2-3 bows, cheek, voice, hands and feet. In the midst of the battle we find Yong Yandsen, a high-octane Malaysian sax virtuoso who virtually explodes on stage combining the best of Japanese noise and European free-jazz-or-whatever-you-wanna-call-it together with the aforementioned gentlemen. Are they the Hungry Ghosts, or are they here to exorcise them out of you? One thing is sure: Don’t leave the Hungry Ghosts hungry!
Yong Yandsen is a leading figure on the Malaysian improv scene. He has made a name
for himself in the rest of Southeast-Asia and lately also in Europe. Yandsen runs the Lao
Ban record label and also the concert series SPIL and the annual KLEX festival together
with his partner and voice artist Siew-Wai Kok.
Christian Meaas Svendsen is a Norwegian bass player playing in constellations such as
Large Unit, Ayumi Tanaka Trio and Nakama. Christian questions the cemented view of
relating to his instrument physically, and challenges the body’s capacities in order to find
new ways to approach the sonic treasures hidden within the body of the bass.
Paal Nilssen-Love is the infamous Norwegian drummer who for over 20 years have
travelled the world extensively with numerous successful projects such as Atomic, The
Thing and now also his own project Large Unit. He has stated his position as one of the
most profiled drummers in Europe of today, and has given numerous performances at
festivals and clubs all over the world, and participated on over 200 recordings.

Hye Young Sin er en kunstner, der oprindeligt kommer fra Seoul og bor i Berlin i Tyskland. Hun udforsker samspillet mellem lyd, bevægelse, form og materiale gennem forskellige kunstneriske medier som performances, installationer, skulpturer og kompositioner. Hendes tilgang lægger vægt på de akustiske egenskaber, der bor i forskellige materialer, og udtaler sig om de kunstneriske muligheder, der ligger i det almindelige ved at redefinere og rekontekstualisere. Sins kunstneriske praksis er centreret omkring forskellig brug af små motorer, som hun behændigt anvender til at krydse forskellige overflader og dermed generere en bred vifte af lyde. Ved at bruge små motorer, der er beregnet til gør-det-selv-brug, aktiverer Sin disse objekter og udnytter deres medfødte kvaliteter til at producere lyd. I stedet for at skabe en masterrytme til synkronisering sammensætter hun en konstellation af subtile impulser, som hver især udløses af påvirkningen fra adskillige motorer. Denne tilgang resulterer i dannelsen af lydskyer, der kan variere fra enkle og diskrete summen til gennemtrængende og tæt lagdelt rasle.
Sins uddannelsesmæssige baggrund omfatter en grad i forbrugervidenskab med et fælles hovedfag i informations- og kulturteknologi fra Seoul National University i Sydkorea. Derefter afsluttede hun et diplom på Academy of Media Arts i Köln, Tyskland. Hendes værker har været fremtrædende på udstillinger og medie-/lydkunstfestivaler som f.eks. next

Hungry Ghosts er væsener, der er drevet af intense følelsesmæssige behov, og som med jævne mellemrum på jordens overflade i søgen efter noget, der kan tilfredsstille deres trang. Nu er de her for dig! Den omnipotente levende legende Paal-Nilssen Love tørner sammen med sit vidunderbarn Christian Meaas Svendsen på bas, der spiller med 2-3 buer, kind, stemme, hænder og fødder. Midt i kampen finder vi Yong Yandsen, en malaysisk saxofonvirtuos, som nærmest eksploderer på scenen og kombinerer det bedste af japansk støj og europæisk free-jazz-eller-hvad-du-nu-vil-kalde-det sammen med de førnævnte herrer. Er det dem der er sultne spøgelser, eller er de her for at uddrive dem ud af dig? En ting er sikkert: Lad ikke de sultne spøgelser være sultne!
Yong Yandsen er en ledende skikkelse på den malaysiske impro-scene. Han har skabt sig et navn for sig selv i resten af Sydøstasien og på det seneste også i Europa. Yandsen driver pladeselskabet Lao Ban-pladeselskabet og også koncertrækken SPIL og den årlige KLEX-festival sammen med sin sammen med sin partner og stemmekunstner Siew-Wai Kok.
Christian Meaas Svendsen er en norsk bassist, der spiller i konstellationer som
Large Unit, Ayumi Tanaka Trio og Nakama. Christian sætter spørgsmålstegn ved den cementerede opfattelse af at forholde sig fysisk til sit instrument og udfordrer kroppens kapacitet for at findenye måder at nærme sig de soniske skatte på.
Paal Nilssen-Love er den berygtede norske trommeslager, som i over 20 år har rejst verden rundt med talrige succesfulde projekter som Atomic, The Thing og nu også sit eget projekt Large Unit. Han har erklæret sin position som en af de mest profilerede trommeslagere i Europa i dag, og har givet talrige optrædener på festivaler og klubber over hele verden og medvirket på over 200 indspilninger.
