Jazz pianist and composer Niels Lan Doky has had one of the most extensive and unusual careers that the Danish music scene has ever seen. His professional career started already at age 13, and he was only 15 when began playing with American jazz legends Thad Jones and Ernie Wilkins. Today at the age of 50, he has released 37 album releases under his own name and has collaborated with the greatest artists in jazz and won countless awards and accolades around the world. And he has also occasionally devoted time to parallel careers as a film director, producer, author and speaker. The trioâs drummer since 2011 is the spectacular young ultra gifted Niclas Bardeleben, and on bass is the band leaders long time close friend and past musical associate, Ira Coleman, who is mostly known for his collaborations with Herbie Hancock, Tony Williams, Freddie Hubbard and Sting. âI am excited about the combination of Ira Coleman and Niclas Bardelebenâ, says Niels Lan Doky, âthere is a rare and unique blend of qualities between them, and I am compelled to explore where this will lead the musicâ.

Hans professionelle karriere startede allerede som 13 Ă„rig og som kun 15 Ă„rig kunne han hĂžres spille sammen med amerikanske jazz legender som Thad Jones og Ernie Wilkins. I en alder af 50 Ă„r har han i dag allerede 37 pladeudgivelser i eget navn bag sig og han har samarbejdet med jazzens stĂžrste koryfĂŠer og vundet utallige priser og anerkendelser verden over. Og parallelle karrierer som filminstruktĂžr, producer, forfatter og foredragsholder er der ogsĂ„ ind imellem blevet fundet tid til.
