Den imponerende barytonsaxofon hører ikke til de mest anvendte jazzinstrumenter, men den har alligevel sin egen kongerække. Den kan med en vis ret siges at nedstamme fra cool jazzens mester, Gerry Mulligan, men én af dens mest prominente moderne repræsentanter er Ronnie Cuber.
