Yes! Its the Monday Band at 7pm each monday until the end of time. The Monday Band was formed to focus on playing improvised music in a large ensemble and draws its members from the large vibrant group of improvisers in town and passing through. The idea is to have a international band with a open constellation which connects the improvising scene in Copenhagen and performs every week. The band will play minimal compositions, improvising concepts and graphic scores composed and arranged by the members of the band. the band will have a flexible lineup each week but with a core group of artists consistently there. Copenhagen has long needed a place where a steady workshop band could experiment with improvising in a large ensemble and the MondayClub is the place to do it so welcome to THE MONDAY BAND
kl 20 Johannes Gammelgaard Quartet
Johannes Gammelgaard (DK) - tenor saxophone
Karl Wallmyr (SE) - trumpet
Anders Langørgen (NO) - double bass

Johannes Gammelgaard is a Danish saxophone player who has lived and played in Stockholm
since January 2017. In this group, he collaborates with three experienced and playful young
musicians from the vibrant jazz scene of Stockholm.
The quartet is founded with inspiration from the Ornette Coleman Quartet and Jesper Zeuthen
PLUS and plays original compositions which most of all sound like Danish folk songs and psalms,
but also borrow elements from South African hymns and American free jazz. In November 2017, Gammelgaard released his debut album entitled
“Kærligheden” (“Love”) with the octet Johannes Gammelgaards ABC, which explores an original
sound where poetic lyrics and simplistic melodies meet with free improvisations.
In the quartet setting, anything superfluous is left out, and the simple compositions give space for
as well melodic as experimental improvisations from all of the four band members.
