American hard bop soul jazz pianist Harold Mabern has built a wonderful career as a sideman for Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard and Archie Shepp, with albums on Blue Note and Impulse. Rare groove-aficionados might know him from albums by Lee Morgan and Stanley Turrentine, on which he plays Fender Rhodes. He will play alongside fellow countryman, tenor saxophonist Eric Alexander, who is known for his sophisticated hard bob style. Darryl Hall on the bass and Bernd Reiter on the drums will provide further assistance.
