“Her name may be unfamiliar, but that surely is about to change…She possesses a hauntingly pure voice and a knack for unearthing provocatively unorthodox material.”
Clive Davis, The Sunday Times
“This is honest music, music from the heart. It might be that Indra and her band are still on a musical journey, but on this album, with the help of Jay Bellerose and producer Larry Klein, they have arrived to a truly special place.”
All About Jazz ****1/2
“Indra Rios-Moore, who grew up on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, is now a respected figure on Denmark’s jazz scene and it’s easy to see why from this classy and ambitious album. She ranges across bluesy jazz, such as Little Black Train, and is as comfortable on Duke Ellington’s Azure as she is with David Bowie’s Heroes. Top 25 albums of 2015, London Telegraph ****
“Featuring the talismanic presence of producer Larry Klein, this third album from the US-born, Denmark based vocalist Indra Rios-Moore serves us a fascinating track list encompassings evertyhing from Duke Ellington and Doc Watson to Pink Floyd and David Bowie. Serving as the perfect curtain raiser, the album jolts to life with the venerably ancient country gospel song, “Little Black Train”. Penned by Ellington with lyrics by Irving Mills, and strongly associated with Ella Fitzgerald, “Azure” floats through your consciousness as if in a dream. If “Hacia Donde”, penned by the Cuban vocalist Marta Valdes, elicits the most impassioned singing of the date, “Blue Railroad Train” and “Your Long Journey” (the latter most recently recorded by Alison Krauss and Robert Plant) showcases the unusual purity, liquid phrasing and emotional sincerity of Rios-Moore’s voice. A magnificent album reaches its high water mark with a profoundly understated reading of Thomas Bartlett’s “From Silence”.”
