When Joe Lovano (US), one of the world’s greatest saxophone players, heard the sound of Benjamin Koppel’s new mezzo-soprano saxophone, he instantly ordered a copy of the instrument from Copenhagen-based instrument maker Peter Jessen.
This concert combines the American jazz tradition and the Scandinavian sound, represented by Benjamin Koppel and the Swede, Palle Danielsson, whose musical collaborations have included American pianist Keith Jarrett.
