ALICE is proud to close our Vinterjazz programme with the stunning vocalist and explorer of futurist folk music, Lyra Pramuk. Her album “Fountain” from 2020 was quite a sensation that received wide critical acclaim. In a “Best New Music” review, Pitchfork wrote: “Pramuk’s debut album generously looks inward to illuminate the multiplicity of the self. “Fountain” plays with the perception of music, rhythms, speech, body, and the relation between technology and humanity, exploring a post-human, non-binary understanding of life and the fragile ecosystems it depends on. Mixing classical vocalism, pop sensibilities, performance practices and contemporary club culture with the sense of storytelling and community building from folk music, Pramuk is a deeply original voice on the contemporary music scene. She recently released the album “Delta” - a sequel that presents various collaborations exploring the material from “Fountain” in new contexts. Adam Christensen
The Danish multifaceted artist Adam Christensen works with video and textiles as well as poetry and music. Opening for Lyra Pramuk, Christensen will perform and play with his harmonica. Those who were lucky to see the concert at Badesøen Festival last year will know that they can be quite intense, as Christensen operates with contradictions such as intensity and faint, man and women, performance and person. Think Baby Dee with less cabaret but more deep felt emotions.
Den enestående musiker og performer Lyra Pramuk runder ALICEs Vinterjazz-program af med sin ekspressive vokal og sin posthumane folkemusik. Den danske multikunstner Adam Christensen åbner aftenen.
Koncerten finder sted i Musikhuset København på Vesterbro.
Futuristisk folkemusik er Lyra Pramuks musik blevet kaldt. Med stemmen som materiale og med et musikalsk univers, der befinder sig i et grænseland mellem klassisk musik, club-kultur, pop og performancekunst skaber hun en undersøgelse af kroppens rum i et post-humant landskab og giver samtidig stemme til non-binære identiteter.
Hendes debutalbum, “Fountain” fra 2020 høstede fortjente kritikerroser for dets visionære lydunivers - på én gang intimt, fortroligt og storslået. Albummet var bl.a. Best New Music på Pitchfork, der skrev:

Selv relaterer Pramuk, der også arbejder med både poesi, performancekunst og mode, sin musik til folkemusikkens tradition for historiefortælling og dens tradition for at skabe en følelse af fællesskab - et fællesskab, som har et helende potentiale. Og netop musikkens helende fællesskab er et væsentligt udgangspunkt for Pramuk.
Ralf Christensen fra Information har sammenlignet hendes ekspressive stemme med ANOHNI og Lisa Gerrard og skrevet om albummet:
“Fountain er et polyfonisk, queer, transhumant lydbillede af, hvor smukt kroppen kan opløses, forstærkes, forvrides, muteres, mutileres i teknologiens ocean. Hvordan kroppen kan afgive en musik, der både trækker på minimalistisk komposition, folkemusik, pop og electronica.”
Pramuk stammer fra USA, men er bosat i Berlin. Hun har haft residencies på bl.a. Open Port Club Residency i Tokyo og legendariske EMS i Stockholm. Hun er aktuel med albummet “Delta” - et album, der byder på en række samarbejder og bearbejdninger af materialet fra “Fountain”. Her går Pramuk i dialog med kunstnere som Ben Frost, Caterina Barbieri, Gabber Modus Operandi m.fl.
ALICE er begejstrede for at kunne afrunde Vinterjazz 2022 med denne exceptionelle kunstner, der optræder i Musikhuset Københavns smukke sal.
Adam Christensen
Den danske multikunstner Adam Christensen har en holistisk tilgang til sit kunstneriske virke og arbejder både med video, tekstiler, poesi og musik. Som support for Lyra Pramuk vil Christensen optræde med sin harmonika. Var man heldig at opleve kunstneren på Badesøen Festival i 2021 ved man, at koncerterne er ekstremt intense – det er koncerter med livet, hjertet, sårbarheder, ja hele mennesket, uden på tøjet. Der veksles mellem inderlighed og afmagt, mand og kvinde, performance og person. En art Baby Dee med afsæt i følelsesregistret mere end kabareten.
