2016 was a rough year. politically we reached a new low, both at home and abroad, and we lost many of the masters. Have to mention Bobby Hutcherson, Pelle Gudmundsen-Holmgren, Muhammad Ali, Paul Smoker, Prince, Papa Wemba, Paul Bley, David Bowie, Christian Kyhl, Pauline Oliveros and Else Marie Pade
BUT there was at least one light in the darkness: MANDAGSKLUBBEN took off for real. we have a full house every monday, we have bookings far into 2017, we have had so much incredible music, so many highlights each week that it doesn't make sense to name them here and we will keep growing and expanding your and our horizons....

We are very proud to present our resident artists in January: the great band Sleepover!!!
Sleepover is a group of young New Copenhageners known from several different groups in the art scene. Tobias Pfeil on the guitar and voice of God has been seen on stage wearing varying degrees of clothing in the shadiest of European art and jazz clubs. The powerhouse musician Rasmus Kjærgård Lund pushes a whole lot of air through his massive tuba, making even the most hard core noise fans tremble with joy. The trio is completed with the non-stop killing machine drummer Ole Mofjell, known for deconstructing the drumset in fierce attacks of brutal sticksnap outburst and eclectic choices of limited edition shirts. Sleepover is a band where you can never know what to expect, considering their unique blend of acoustic and electric possibilities. In January they will perform with hand picked guests from the European noise and free jazz scene.

Joel Illerhag is the strongest Bazantar-player of his generation. He has assembled a choir with six strong female voices that sing songs that are influenced by folk, jazz and contemporary music genres. Their music is a search for an emotional and spiritual depth in the sound, exploring new paths of playing together. And what is the Bazantar? It is a new futuristic instrument built by Joel himself in 2015. It contains 26 resonate strings that make the instrument sounds like an orchestra. This concert is going to be something special.
kl 23 Søren Gemmer’s The Lark
Mads La Cour - trumpet/flügelhorn
Tapani Toivnane - double bass
Andreas Fryland - drums
Søren Gemmer - Wurlitzer+acoustic piano
The Lark is pianist Søren Gemmer’s longstanding acoustic(-like) project. Blazing trumpeteer Mads La Cou, versatile and fiery drummer Andreas Fryland and hidden gem bass player Tapani Toivanen. A blend of modern jazz and classical music influences, the occasional free improvised sections, a subtle grooviness, all unified by the Gemmer’s trademark angular melodicism.
kl 24 Silova / Čudars / Heyndels
Elīna Silova - voice
Matīss Čudars - guitar, objects
Lennart Heyndels - double bass
Silova / Čudars / Heyndels is a Belgian-Latvian constellation of three young musicians active in the European improv music scene. With the multitude of acoustically and electronically created sounds and textures they draw the listener into a magical trance-like sound world which varies from quiet and airy angelic dimensions, to very primal and rough jungle-like sound spaces. Their background in the Baltic folk music compliments the sound world with spiritual melodies and chorales.
