Memorial Day Weekend Concert to Salute America’s Military Veterans

BOCA RATON, Fla. (March 2013) The International Big Band Jazz Café Society is preparing to honor American military veterans with a special concert featuring “The Great American Song Book.”

Dick Cully and his electrifying 15-piece Big Band will perform the music of America’s most revered Big Band leaders. The show will be held May 24 at 7:30 p.m. at Olympic Heights Community High School. The 800-seat venue is located at 20101 Lyons Road in western Boca Raton.

BOCA RATON, Fla. (March 2013) The International Big Band Jazz Café Society is preparing to honor American military veterans with a special concert featuring “The Great American Song Book.”

Dick Cully and his electrifying 15-piece Big Band will perform the music of America’s most revered Big Band leaders. The show will be held May 24 at 7:30 p.m. at Olympic Heights Community High School. The 800-seat venue is located at 20101 Lyons Road in western Boca Raton.

Cully has been a playing the drums nearly fifty years and has been a Big Band leader since 1982. Long regarded as one of the “world's greatest drummers,” Cully’s playing style has been featured in numerous articles which compare his sound to the legendary Buddy Rich. In an article in Percussive Arts Society magazine, Cully writes in depth about Rich’s iconic technique.

In recent years, Cully began promoting a bold but simple concept, “Help Us Reboot America, Reboot America Musically.” It puts music to work as the vehicle to teach American History in a unique way while preserving an American art form, creating jobs that stimulate the economy and benefitting education.

Tickets for the concert are $20 in advance and $25 at the door, if seating is available. In addition, the band will perform a free show at 4:30 p.m. for students and veterans with I.D.

Proceeds from the concert will help raise $10,000 which will benefit veterans and is needed for the Olympic Heights High School Band.
