The DJPS’s “Piano Madness” concert brings together three world-class jazz pianists to benefit twelve deserving, motivated West Dallas musical students through our Keys for Kids Scholarship program. Founded in 2012, Keys for Kids, a 501C3 nonprofit, and an initiative of the Dallas Jazz Piano Society, has provided both keyboards and musical instruction to over 35 deserving Dallas students since its inception. Our twelve deserving 2018-2019 Keys for Kids Scholarship Recipients are receiving piano instruction at Raul Quintanilla Middle School under the tutelage of Frederick Sanders, who has recorded and performed with Norah Jones, and who currently is
Director of the Music Department at Booker T. Washington, the Dallas arts magnet school. Sanders has led his Booker T Washington student band to first- place wins at the Monterrey Jazz Festival for two consecutive years. Currently, Sanders is sharing Keys for Kids instructional duties with his intern, Michael Robertson, a former
student of Sanders at Booker T. Washington. Michael Robertson has started a Keys For Life Program in collaboration with Dallas Designing Dreams to further our efforts to not only provide instruction but key boards to all our Keys for Kids
