Guitar virtuoso Joe Lee is a versatile, dynamic, and award winning guitarist who has been a mainstay of the Dallas music scene for many years.
Among his awards are twice being voted #1 Jazz Guitarist in the Texas Jazz Reader’s Poll. He was a member of the jazz-fusion group Clockwork when they won #1 Jazz Group in the Dallas Observer’s Reader’s Poll two years in a row. He was also a member of Beledi when they won the Dallas Observer Music Awards #2 Avante-garde/Experimental Group.
Joe is passionate about education and the art of music. He has taught jazz guitar as a faculty member at the University of North Texas, Texas A&M-Commerce, and Richland College.
In addition to his thousands of performances ranging from solo and duo gigs to the Dallas Opera, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Joe has also performed with many Broadway touring companies, including the Lion King, the Color Purple, Motown, Mamma Mia, and Chicago. He loves the diverse styles and instruments these shows require. Among the instruments he has had to quickly learn for these are dobro, mandolin, banjo, blues harmonica, and kalimba (African thumb piano).
